Once again I feel privileged sharing my thoughts with you!
Today I welcome you from the pit stop which means it will be a short article.
The story might be short but it was a long long time ago since I last visited a Samsung store.
A friend of mine got me there and quickly, two models caught my eye: the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G and the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G.
I was absolutely thrilled with the design of these two phones! No doubt, they look modern, innovative, and different.
In my opinion, Samsung made a really smart move by creating these devices simply because people are fed up with the usual smartphone looks. At least I was.
On the other hand, the other giant phone company, Apple, what did they do?
They started manufacturing devices with a similar shape to the ones they used to sell back in the day.
I agree that the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 look great, and some of you may argue that there is nothing wrong with returning to the roots and using a successful design. Yes, we have all these loyal Apple fans praising the design of the mentioned phones, but really?
Are these your newer models, for which you charge a small fortune? Is this how innovative you are? Is this your vision for the future, looking back and not forward? This is simply a lack of Creativity. Give me a break!
You need to put much more on the table if you like to maintain the lead position in the market. At least in my humble opinion.
Don’t get me wrong: we have used and continue to use all Apple devices at Creativeery. Rest assured, we are well aware of their advantages. Despite this, the facts are that there are no flip or fold phones provided by Apple at the moment, and this is sad.
Since I fell in love with both Samsung phones, I decided to buy one-the Galaxy Z Flip3.
In the article, we mainly focus on the design, and we won’t do a full phone review, but I will tell you the following, which I think is very important about the Z flip3.
First, the phone looks amazing, especially the creme coloured version. However, there is one big and absolutely unacceptable issue—the battery life is far from good.
This is something Samsung has to work on for sure for the next Flip phone. You just can’t have one of your flagman phones with such a small battery size and life. So, if you are a hard phone user, we do not recommend the Galaxy Flip3. You will need to charge it often, and charging takes around 1.30 to 1.50 hours.
Another important thing, I can tell you, is that the Google Play store absolutely smashes the App Store. For me, the race is not even close. And this has been like this for a long time.
On the Android Store, there are many more free apps; the library is much bigger, and you can get things done without paying. Of course, you will have to endure a few ads, but this is much better than paying, right?
Let me give you a simple example. Go ahead and try to do, let’s say, your CV with the “free” apps from the App Store. Let me save you some time by giving you the outcome. You will download a bunch of “free” apps that will immediately ask you to start a subscription in order to do your job/CV.
Let me save you some more time. If you have an Android device, go ahead and download Intelligent CV if you need to create a great looking CV easily.
And we are not only talking about CV’s. This was just one example.
Not to mention that I bought the Z Flip3 brand new with a two-year warranty for 400€, which is a reasonable price. I agree that the phone is no longer the newest model, and yes, the price was much higher when it came on the market.
But I guarantee you, if an Apple flip phone appears in the future, it will cost much more brand new, even after some time has passed.
The roasted beef is almost done, folks, which means we need to put an end to our article.
We are not here to tell you that Samsung is better or best as a whole. No, we know they have a lot of weaknesses they need to work on.
But from a designer’s point of view, based on the two models, Samsung has a great lead over Apple.
As for Apple, the future is pretty clear for them. They need to answer Samsung and put on the market a flip or a fold phone or both.
Thanks again for being with us! The Creativeery team!
